Borrowing lines from CS Lewis

To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket—safe, dark, motionless, airless—it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable.

Nine days after the onset of the New Year and I find myself wondering what to write about. No, the absence of thoughts is not the reason. But for now, while the waters are not yet still, I revisited these lovely quotes from the brilliant mind of CS Lewis. These quotes are from a man who first loved a woman when he was in his sixties (he later lost the love of his life, Joy Gresham, to cancer). Will write again. Soon.

In the course of writing this post, I accidentally deleted my previous post entitled “More wishes for the New Year.” I will try to recover that post from my laptop (Can’t remember if I wrote it first using Microsoft Word) but for now, for those who left comments, I’m sorry!
