I am starting the year with an attitude of gratitude. With eyes that will always strain to see the beauty in everything; with ears that will try to listen to echoes of goodness around me; with the heart that will trust God no matter where I am—whether I am stuck in a ditch (or in an airport somewhere, like what recently happened to me in Houston, Texas) or up in the air floating on cloud 9 (or in a state of surprise brought upon by unexpected gifts.)
Today, I got a mixed CD; featuring sixteen different versions of one of the most beloved hymns, “Amazing Grace,” given to me by a woman who lives up to her name, Grace.
Today, I got a pair of exquisite home accents, with hearts etched on each piece, from Rex, a publisher who I work with in teaching kids how they can care for the environment. The hearts on them remind me of what God has been constantly giving yet what I have not been consistent in acknowledging—love.

Grace and love. Twin gifts that made me hear God whisper to me, “My child, you’ll have everything you need from up above.”
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
(PS:Thanks to my sis-in-law Ning for taking the pic. The home accents are about waist-high tall. This blogger was kneeling when this pic was taken.)
