Incidentally, this was my second time to wear a toque. The first time was when I enrolled in a four-day-long basic culinary course offered by the Maya Kitchen. That was a lot of fun too! Click here to read about it.

  1. wow, so mouth watering! i think i’d like to join a class when time permits. so, when will you open up your own resto? :D

btw, kakamiss magwork sa kitchen ng hotel! all the fun things you can do there! hahaha

  2. wow! that made me hungry… I do miss cooking my own food but I’m preoccupied with other stuff so I’ve been going the sandwich route a lot.

  3. Hi Carla, I will open up my own resto when I run out of manuscripts to edit. :) But there is no end to the making of books, is there? But I really like to cook, on the side, that is. Hey, you worked in the kitchen of a hotel? Which hotel? That must have been so much fun (though tiring). :)

Hi Swipe, so you cook too? Nice. May your tribe of non-professional chefs, males-who-cook increase. :) Sandwich only? You must be craving for Chowking meals. I remember you once mentioned how you were missing this Chinese fastfood resto. :)

  4. nakaka inspire ms beng. :) i hope to enroll in a culinary arts class someday. :)

  5. it really feels fulfilling when you can attend classes like these to add to your arsenal of experiences…and of course, who knows?—a cozy cafe of your own in the future! You seem really to be headed towards it! :-D

  6. Hi Karina, go! Since you also want to try your hand in the food business someday, it will be helpful for you to familiarize yourself in the kitchen. :) I’m sure there are classes offered in Davao too!

Hi te Bernadette, a cozy cafe! Wow! Yeah, a cafe cum bookstore probably. That’ll be quite a dream business. But the only problem is I don’t have any business sense ;p .

  7. Sarap nyan! Gusto ko rin mag enroll sa culinary arts. Pag weekend, nanonood ako ng cooking shows halos lahat ng nasa QTV11 – as in minsan, pati SPOON ni janice de belen sa NET 25, ha! I love cooking for the boys pag walang pasok.

Kailan ko naman matitikman version mo ng pan-roasted sea bass fillet? Sama mo na rin banana cake, kung hindi kalabisan, hehe…

As for the wooden stirrer, i’ll check Gourdo’s for you…

Hi Mommy G! Kelan tayo ulit magde-date. Next time, my treat. :) Yes, I love cooking shows too. Check out Youtube for Anthony Bourdain’s visit to the Philippines. Hey, I saw your dishes posted on your Facebook account. They all look delicious. You have four happy and well-fed “boys” in your household.

As to your request, mas possible ang banana cake at this point. If I cook sea bass for you, I should be a few feet away from my kitchen so I could serve it to you hot. :)

Thanks for thinking about the wooden spoon. I have some pieces but the kind the Italian chef used was different. :)

  8. Ate Beng,

Your cooking looks nice and yummy! Anyway, what a lovely surprise from you! I still didn’t believe it was for me when I saw the parcel. I appreciate it talaga. It’s so sweet of you! I wish to meet you some time too! God bless you more and more!

Ate, h’wag ka na lang mag comment, takot ako…huhuhu…but I’m trying my best di ko pa familiar paano…hehehe….

    Hi Dorina!
Thanks for the comment. I’m glad you received the package already. That was long overdue. But anyway, at least you were still surprised. :) As to meeting you someday, who knows? I might find myself in Cambodia when you’re still there. And then you can tour me around. :)

I will check out your blog now that I have your address again. Don’t worry about my comments. I will not ask you to rewrite or revise any of your posts, haha. :) Just be real and write about what is true about you. That’s the best kind of writing—the sincere kind.

  9. Hi! Ms. Beng, sa opening ng resto mo don’t forget to invite me ha? One of my favorite channel sa Destiny Cable is Travel Living; I always watch, take home chef, planets food, bizarre food, basta lahat ng nilulutong pagkain na pwedeng kainin! Maging magaling kang chef someday! cheers!

  10. Were you there when I did a cooking demo during one of our retreats? Hmm…Dati I loved watching Iron Chef too. The last cooking related show I watched was “No Reservations” by Anthony Bourdain wherein they featured his visit to the Philippines, particularly Chinatown, Pampanga and Cebu. Have you seen it? I just watched it via YouTube. 6 parts yata.

I don’t think I’ll ever have a resto but I’ll be happy to just be able to cook regularly.
